Southern Wesleyan University was founded in 1906 as Wesleyan Methodist Bible Institute. It is a private Christian school guided by biblical principles. Southern Wesleyan is located in Central, South Carolina, with six additional locations for Adult and Graduate Studies programs.

At Southern Wesleyan, students can choose from 14 clubs and organizations. The campus has a Campus Life Center, gym and tennis courts. The town of Central is friendly and small, and provides shops and restaurants. Central is also rich in history and original storefronts and Victorian architecture can be found along Main Street. The area around Wesleyan provides access to mountain bike trails, hiking and horseback riding.
Southern Wesleyan offers 36 programs of study and four graduate programs including Master’s of Education, Master’s of Science in Management, Master’s of Business Administration and Master’s of Ministry. Some degree programs offered include Accounting, Criminal Justice, Chemistry, English, Forensic Science, Music, Religion, Master’s of Ministry and Medical Technology. Study programs are available in various locations in the U.S. as well as abroad.
For students seeking a degree in the field of psychology, Wesleyan offers a Bachelor’s in Psychology through the Division of Social Sciences. The course requires 128 credit hours with six courses specific to the psychology field.
Southern Wesleyan also offers Adult & Graduate Studies that are geared toward busy working students. Class scheduling is convenient and requires students to meet once a week for class and study teams. The program is geared towards real-world experiences and the classes are small, allowing for more personalized instruction. Currently there are 10 degrees offered through this program.
Southern Wesleyan is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Wesleyan has been listed as one of the best Master’s level universities in the South as well as one of the best southeastern colleges.
