Herzing College

Herzing College, formally known as Herzing University, is a private for-profit institution of higher education. Herzing was founded in 1965 as a computer programming school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Currently there are 11 campuses in the U.S. and for locations in Canada. Distance learning courses are also offered through Herzing University Online.

Herzing offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as award diplomas in several areas of discipline. These fields include business, technology, health care, design and public safety. Not all campuses offer the same programs but all U.S. campuses award Bachelor’s and Associate’s of Science degrees. Master’s degrees are offered through Herzing University Online.

Herzing currently does not offer psychology degrees for students interested in this field. The degrees offered in health care include Health Care Management, Health Information Management, Master’s of Science in Nursing Degrees, Medical Assisting, Medical Billing and Insurance Coding, Medical Office Administration and Nursing. 

Herzing University Online allows students to attend classes at their convenience. While most coursework is assigned due dates, there are no requirements to be online at a specific time. Online interaction occurs through e-mail and/or discussion boards. Discussion boards are monitored by the instructor, who is there to help summarize and clarify as needed. There is usually one or two group activities required but most assignments are completely individually. Students should plan on logging online at least four days a week to ensure they stay up-to-date with any course announcements or discussions.     

In the U.S., Herzing College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. All locations in Canada, except the Montreal campus, are accredited by the Council on Education and Training Accrediting Commission. The courses at the Montreal campus are approved by the Minister of Education in Quebec.
