Goodwin College
Goodwin College was originally known as the Data Institute Business School – a career training school that operated in East Hartford, Connecticut since 1962. In 1999 it was transformed into Goodwin College, a nonprofit organization accredited with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The main campus is located on 700 acres on the banks of the Connecticut River.

Goodwin currently has the second largest nursing program in the state of Connecticut as well as other programs in business, human services and criminal justice. They also offer a degree in homeland security as well as online classes. Currently there are no degree offerings in the field of psychology at Goodwin College. Some degree offerings that are closely linked to the field of psychology include a Bachelor’s in Child Study and Health Science.
Goodwin is one of the fastest growing institutions in the Northeast. There are currently three campus locations in East Hartford. Goodwin offers three full semesters a calendar year, enabling students to finish a baccalaureate degree in three years versus four. Students on a part-time schedule could finish in four-and-a-half to five years.
Goodwin College also offers a Continuing Education program in English as a Second Language as well as distance learning courses for those unable to attend campus on a regular basis. The online courses have no set class schedule and are run by academic advisors that are knowledgeable about the course content. The Blackboard online software program is used for the distance learning education courses. An orientation session is necessary for first time distance learning students. The orientation session is conducted prior to the start of each semester.
