City University, also referred to as CityU, follows an academic model focused on student learning while ensuring the education students receive is relevant to the workplace. CityU strives to be accessible and responsive to students while honoring their contributions and individual needs. CityU offers a variety of classes including distance learning courses, on-campus courses, and classes geared toward working adults.

City University of Seattle’s Division of Arts and Sciences offers both an undergraduate and graduate degree program for individuals interested in the field of psychology. The Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology degree is an online program that requires a total of 180 credit hours. The degree helps to prepare students for careers in human services or other related fields.

The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at CityU requires 72 credit hours and has an optional Couples & Family Therapy Specialization available to interested students. Students pursuing a degree in Counseling Psychology are typically interested in working as licensed mental health counselors. Students enrolled in the Master’s program can expect to conduct clinical assessments and diagnosis, write formal treatment plans, meet with professional in case consultations and apply theory to clinical cases.

CityU has a unique perspective on a college education. They believe that things have changed when it comes to receiving an education. In the past, individuals were traditionally considered either ‘streetwise’ or academically successful. But at CityU they strive for what they refer to as “Citywise” – which comes about through experience not only in the classroom but outside of it – experiencing the real world.
