Brown Mackie College began as Kansas Wesleyan School of Business in 1892. It later changed its name to The Brown Mackie School of Business, until it was united with others under one parent company. Brown Mackie is a for-profit college that has 24 locations throughout the United States. Brown Mackie College is owned by Education Management Corporation.

Currently there are eight areas of study at Brown Mackie; Business, Early Childhood Education, General Studies, Healthcare and Wellness, Legal Studies, Nursing, Technology Based and Veterinary. Not all of the programs are available at all of the campuses.
Admission into Brown Mackie involves working with an admissions representative who assists students with information on career interests and goals. Admission representatives guide students through a comprehensive and personalized application process, ensuring that each student gets the education they’re seeking.
Brown Mackie currently doesn’t offer any programs for students seeking a degree in the field of psychology. However their healthcare and wellness programs are extensive. Some program offerings include Dental Assistant, Administration in Gerontology, Fitness Trainer, Health Care Administration, Medical Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Surgical Technology and Dietetics Technology.
All of the Brown Mackie Colleges are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools except for the Kansas and Oklahoma campuses. Kansas is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and Oklahoma is licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools.
Brown Mackie College works with active military personnel, reservists, veterans and their families and boasts they are “a military friendly college”. Current and former military, as well as civilian working adults, have the option to take convenient ‘one course a month’ formats. This allows individuals to focus on one subject for one month and then move on to the next subject the following month.
