Belhaven College

Belhaven University, formerly known as Belhaven College, is a Christian liberal arts university. Belhaven College was founded in 1883 by Dr. Roger Parrott. Belhaven is accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. Belhaven believes that their “standard for teaching is Christ”.

Belhaven University currently offers over 27 undergraduate majors. Graduate programs are also available at 5 campuses located in Mississippi, Central Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Georgia. The psychology major at Belhaven University introduces students to human behavior and mental processes, focusing on a Christian base. 

The psychology major prepares students for work in various areas of their field. While many psychology degrees are secular based, Belhaven introduces the biblical worldview into the program. While earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, students are required to complete on-site research or clinical practicum. Some locations for clinical practicum include Crisis Pregnancy Center, Youth for Christ and Baptist Hospital Drug Treatment Program. Reaching out to the community offers students opportunities in various counseling fields, social services and businesses. 

Belhaven University also offers online courses tailored to students with home and work demands. There are undergraduate as well as graduate online degrees available to students. Currently there are no online psychology degrees available for students.

Belhaven University’s Jackson Campus is a residential campus located within minutes of fine dining, shopping, and an arts community. Belhaven University is one of only 30 schools to be nationally accredited in four areas of the arts; dance, theatre, music and visual arts.
